Volumetric video, otherwise known as holograms, is video that exists in 3D space. Viewers can change their view of a performance at any time or physically move around the video in mixed reality experiences. 

We capture performances on our stage using a variety of off-the-shelf cameras and then use computer vision algorithms and machine learning to create our 3D asset. We compress our assets into spatio-temporally consistent meshes and textures and package it in a file container that is playable on a wide variety of cross-platform devices.

On production days, our system can turn around initial selects for review within 24 hours. Timeframes for final delivery depend on the content and duration of the take, as well as specific needs of the client and project.

Our system is very similar to a standard video shoot, with many of the same roles needed for a smooth production.

Our system is set up to capture audio. We put eight channels of shotgun microphones equi-distant around the performer. While we are capable of capturing basic audio, and will provide you with a synced-scratch track, your team will be responsible for audio post-production and sweetening. We’ll walk you through the process as part of pre-production.

Our holograms are represented using traditional computer graphics primitives. We use a mesh to represent the geometry and a texture to represent the color. Like traditional video, our hologram assets also contains synched audio stream.

The size of the capture volume depends upon the version of the stage that is installed. For our ASPX system we have a 3 meter diameter, and 2.5 meter tall capture volume. The larger the capture volume, the more cameras required to fully cover the space, so if your needs are different, please discuss this with us during a project.

Our assets are completely streamable and can be played on nearly any platform, including iOS and Android systems as well as WebXR and 8th Wall integrations. For more information on what you can do with your hologram, contact us at [email protected]

Yes. Though props can be used, adjustments may need to be made depending on what you’re wanting to incorporate. For specific questions, please contact [email protected].

We’ve captured as many as three people in a single scene before but don’t recommend that as a best practice. We can shoot two people at the same time effectively and up to four with careful staging (and some technical limitations with resolution). We’re happy to discuss your specific needs during pre-production to arrive at a satisfactory solution for your project.

Our premium stage package produces 124 Gbps of raw data. Our reconstruction and codec algorithms are able to produce final assets at bit rates ranging from 5-60 Mbps. Our playback allows for adaptive bitrate that will use the best possible quality based on the connection speed.

 

Our assets are designed to be streamed under varying network conditions. Our assets can be streamed under low bandwidth conditions of 5 Mbps, which is equivalent to standard HD video bandwidth. As the connection bandwidth increases to faster LTE speeds, e.g., Wifi and 5G, quality is increased automatically.
